Early in 2023, both Amazon and Apple reduced or eliminated their advertising spending on Twitter, mainly due to the rise in hate speech on the platform in wake of Elon Musk’s purchase of the site. Both companies were lauded for their actions.

It’s yet another disappointing step in the complete capitulation we have seen from Amazon owner Jeff Bezos, a man who had the stones to stand up to Trump 1.0. I guess he knows that grift is on the menu this time around, and would like a seat at that trough. While Apple has made no official announcements yet, it would be far more surprising if they do not also cave.
