Quick Hitter: Beyond Disgusted
I am currently travelling overseas and saw the horrible news out of Minneapolis this morning. As I am here in support of a family member, I can't take the time now to put my thoughts into words.
I can, however, share just one article that very closely tracks my initial reactions.
I don't know this author and only tangentially follow Defector, just FYI.
Here's a taste, but I highly recommend the piece.
The answer is: because the absolutely necessary work of dismantling ICE, fully razing the rhetorical ground from whence it sprung, and prosecuting and imprisoning all the architects and perpetrators of Trump's campaign of terror cannot meaningfully begin so long as the supposed opposition party is represented at its top by people who think the problem with ICE is its disregard for inter-agency cooperation, rather than the essential fact that it is a racist paramilitary death squad rooted in disgusting nativist ideology incompatible with this country's nominal ideals.
Folks, I can't help but feel that this administration of cruel, vindictive, evil assholes knows that they are deeply unpopular and are now attacking, and I fear it will get far, far worse.
We cannot, however, give up hope and allow them to destroy the fabric of our country.
