Quick Hitter: Pete's Having A Day
SECDUI Kegsbreath is really on one lately. Last week, six Democratic members of Congress (who are all former military or intelligence specialists) put out a video that simply reminded active-duty military that it’s not only ok to disobey a direct order, it’s their duty to do so. Instead of quickly commenting and dismissing the video, which one would do if one had not issued (or didn’t intend to issue) illegal orders, Dear Leadere and his Former Fox Weekend Anchor Patrȯn Pete lost what little minds they have left, accusing the Democrats of “sedition”1 and calling for their arrest… or worse.
To their credit, the Dems in the video doubled down after the Unhinged One’s responses, which clearly further upset both Trump and his Secretary of Sauce. The Department of DEFENSE issued a statement saying that they were starting an investigation into the Democrats (for… teaching Civics?) and Dear Leader kept on bleating out nonsense.
Mark Kelly wasn’t having it, appearing on several news shows to defend both himself and the others who made the video while directly calling out Hegseth for his bullshit.2
As is typical of one who doesn’t know when he has lost, Pete decided to reply from his personal account:
I gotta hand it to him, Hegseth is certainly on top of the most important issues in the military today. I am sure the top brass on the military side is happy that their civilian boss is taking the time to police up a retired officer’s medals.3
Attacking these Democrats for doing their job isn’t the only place where Pete is railing these days:
So, what’s going on here?
Is Hegseth threatened by what a real “warfighter” looks like? Is he jealous of Kelly’s commendations, ribbons and medals (since you actually have to serve for a bit to earn these things, somethings that Petey barely did before being appointed the top civilian in the military)?
Is he just having a sad because he didn’t get to go to Europe for the peace talks? I can’t imagine why, after his last high-profile visit went so well.
Or has he just fallen off the wagon?4
Obviously, I can only speculate, but it stands to reason that when you put someone who is so fantastically unqualified into such an important job, they are going to flounder. When that happens in corporate America a company has a bad quarter or two. When it happens at DoD, people die. Add to that the fact that we may be on the brink of a wag the dog war with Venezuela and things are pretty damned serious right now, and Hegseth isn’t close to meeting the moment.
Oh hey, Happy Thanksgiving!
Take Care and Stay Strong, Together.
There’s no such crime as sedition. There is a crime called seditious conspiracy, which Trump should be pretty familiar with, since he pardoned several people who were convicted of in for their participation in the J6 insurrection.
As always, I will never link directly to Musk’s propaganda site, but I also won’t post a tweet I haven’t already verified as real.
As many online folks have pointed out, the image was likely reversed, as is often the case when people post selfies. So Heggy’s criticisms are even more banal.
As a person in recovery, I take it very seriously, but I can also call a spade a spade, and behaviors like this are symptomatic of untreated alcoholism. Maybe Pete just needs to get to a meeting?
